[OVERVIEW]

EcoPark is an augmented reality experience developed as my senior thesis and exhibition project, exploring how emerging technology can transform educational environments. The experience allows users to discover and interact with wildlife from around the world through immersive AR experiences designed to promote conservation, inspire curiosity, and raise awareness of endangered species. Built using Adobe Aero, Adobe Illustrator, and 3D assets by PolyPerfect, the project challenged me to design intuitive interactions within a three-dimensional space while balancing education, engagement, and accessibility.

The Challenge

Traditional educational signage often struggles to capture visitors' attention for extended periods. This project explored how augmented reality could transform static exhibits into interactive experiences that encourage curiosity, increase engagement, and make learning about wildlife more memorable.

The Solution

I designed an augmented reality experience featuring nine interactive animal modules across multiple habitats. By combining animation, audio, and accessible educational content, the experience creates a more engaging way for visitors to explore conservation topics while demonstrating the potential of AR as a tool for education.

ECO CARDS

Eco Cards were designed as a way for users to easily access the augmented reality content. Once scanned, A pop up for Adobe Aero appears and seamlessly allows you to use the AR content without download any extra app. The information on the card gives you a way to physically learn information while the AR experience creates an engaging experience with immersive sound and 3D models.

INTERACTION

The Augmented content has multiple ways to interact and educate users.

The Info icon brings up the Eco Card which shows key facts such as population, lifespan, and more.

The Leaf icon brings up facts about the animals wildlife status and threats it faces in its natural habitat.

The Magnifying Glass allows users to dive deeper into the unique features of each animal

AR EXPERIENCE

Additional interactions include the move button, which plays a short animation. The sound button which plays a recording of what each animal sounds like. And the scale button which displays the animal at the size it would be in real life.

EXHIBITION

Eco Park was exhibited in the 2023 Neighborhood Graphic Design Showcase in Rapson Hall. The layout presented an easy and engaging way to interact with the content and learn more about conservation and our wildlife
