[OVERVIEW]

School photography ordering materials are used by thousands of families each season, yet many package sheets become crowded as products, pricing, and promotions evolve over time. The objective of this project was to redesign our print package system into a cleaner, more modular experience that improved readability while remaining easy for our internal team to update throughout the season.

The Challenge

Kemmetmueller's existing package sheets made it difficult for parents to quickly understand the differences between options. The goal was to modernize the experience while creating a scalable design system that could support future package variations.

The redesign needed to:

  • Help parents quickly differentiate package options.

  • Improve visual hierarchy and information clarity.

  • Establish a scalable, modular design system.

  • Reduce manual production work for new package variations.

  • Maintain consistency with the company's existing brand identity

Exploring Information Hierarchy

I explored a variety of layouts to determine the clearest way to communicate package contents. Through multiple iterations, I tested different visual hierarchies, icon arrangements, and grouping strategies before landing on a modular layout that balanced clarity, flexibility, and brand consistency.

Final Solution

The final design introduced a clearer package hierarchy, expanded product information, and a modular component system that made future package updates significantly easier. By simplifying comparisons and improving visual organization, parents could quickly understand what each package included.

Reflection & Future Ideas

This project reinforced that effective design extends beyond aesthetics. Creating systems that improve maintainability and efficiency can have just as much impact as improving visual appearance.

During this project I experimented with the idea of using Illustrator scripts in order to generate packages based on given print counts. If implemented, this would allow the ability to quickly generate new packages without manually editing each price sheet in illustrator.
